Holiday parties are a great time for extra glitz, glam, and glimmer. Attitudes are festive, presents are aplenty and champagne corks are popping.  This is a time to be generous and give thanks to all those that you love. It is also a time to treat yourself well. Anyone that knows me, knows full well that I love experimenting with beauty products and in terms of cosmetics, one of my delights is a great contouring pencil or shadow.

Finding the best fix all kit for fatigued eyes or dark circles can be tricky. There are certain keys to look for: a degree of transparency with enough pigment to do the job, just enough shimmer to make one sparkle without the overload, colours that blend seamlessly together. Kits that I love include Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘5 Color’ Couture Palette, Bobbi Brown’s Rich Chocolate Eye Palette for Fall, Billion Dollar Brows- Brow Duo Pencil, and Chanel Eyeshadow Quad ‘Prelude,’ Dr. Hauschka’s Eyeshadow Palette in Brown/Grey, and Laura Mercier’s Artist’s Palette for Eyes.  These little boxes of happiness provide subtlety, sophistication, and enough pop to allow you to sparkle for the entire evening no matter how many glasses of bubbly you’ve had.

Chestnuts are my favorite ingredient to use in the fall, especially for the holidays. I always find that they are meaty, hearty and have a mysterious refinement when cooked or roasted over sea salt.
