No one has popularized the oversized sunglasses trend more than Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The phrase Jackie O shades was even created to represent this chapter in fashion history. This among Jackie’s countless other contributions to fashion and society (which I will delve it another time), people still reference her daily as the icon that made large sunglasses a commonly worn accessory.
In the late 1960s, Jackie was everything and she still reigns as the queen supreme. Hollywood stars and us common pedestrians adorn our faces with these shades frequently. They provide quite a lot of sun protection while still looking fashion forward (even now). Throw on a pair with any simple, basic outfit and voila insta-chic! The oversized trend represents fashion, power, confidence, and ultimate timelessness, just like America’s beloved icon, Jackie O.
